Seriously... we don't want to add anymore to that number!
COLOR WASTE
Did you know that salons generate an estimated 42,000 lbs of hair color waste per day That's equivalent to 15,330,000 lbs per year. This is a staggering amount that really adds up over time.
With our Vish scale system we have reduced our color waste by over 90%. Each bowl of hair color is weighed using a Bluetooth scale and an Ipad. We track every gram of color used so that we waste as little as possible!
COMPOSTING PROGRAM
Lucky for us our town has one of the best waste management systems in the nation and turns 60% of all waste into compost. They also have a separate recycling system! You can read more about that here.
TERRACYCLE
Through Amika we've partnered with TerraCycle for recycling of salon products. We recycle our product containers and you can drop off your containers at any Wanderlust location!
While there are recycling centers around every town, not all of them are able to recycle all parts of aerosol cans, but with TerraCycle we are able to recycle 100% of all beauty product containers!
HAIR RECYCLING
Hair recycling? Ever heard of it? Well we do it and we are so excited to share with you how we do it!
We send off all hair clippings to Matter of Trust whose goal is to clean polluted water. You can read more about this below.
